
I'm afraid you have left it far too late for this season, the maltese will have a much smaller gene pool than most breeds in this country making it even more important that you choose the stud with great care, I would recommend that you go back to her breeder (assuming she is a responsible breeder) to discuss whether your bitch has the necessary attributes to breed, has passed the relevent health checks (not just a check over by your vet) and advise on a suitable stud. If this is your first litter you are going to need help from an expert anyway, a lot of the toy breeds are rather difficult to welp and rear. If you feel her breeder is not a good candidate to help you you should seek a suitable mentor via the breed club, believe me it will be in your best interests and that of your bitch to do so :)
