Topic Dog Boards / Health / Glazby's Leg

Hi All,

Glazby seems to have a limp on his front off-side leg.  Its not seeming to bother him and seems to be more obvious when he gets up from a snooze.

I've had a feel down both of his front legs and can't feel any swelling and it isn't stopping him from running around but I wonder if this should warrant another trip to the vets or just to monitor it?  I've also checked his pads on his feet but they are fine - no cuts etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks Hayley & Glazby  xx

He might have just strained it. Try and rest him over the next few days to see if it gets better if not then take a trip to the vets to see what they think !

Hi Lel, he's still quite stiff on his leg.  I've tried resting him as much as possible but it is quite hard to stop a bouncing boxer from throwing himself about the place.

To my mind the stiffness seems to be more in his shoulder joint than the leg itself.  I've tried flexing it a little bit and it doesn't seem to bother him at all.

Just as a matter of interest does cod liver oil work for dogs in keeping supple joints etc?  I could try giving him a bit in his dinner to see if it helps.

Otherwise I think another trip to the vets will be in order if I see no improvement - Kennel Cough last month and now this, my pup is falling to bits!!

We've had exactly the same - kc  recently and Libbys been a bit stiff on and off with the one leg.
Shes had plenty of rest but as I say it comes and goes and sometimes seems stiff when shes first awoken . Vet has advised an X-ray and if nothing shows up there to see a specialist who can insert a tiny camera to see whats happening in there

Hope you sort it out soon :)
