I took Keatah for a scan on Fri being almost 6 weeks gone. Was very shocked at the news I got she isnt having pups.
She had a good tie and as been showing signs of pregnency. We were very upset by the news my daughter is broken hearted.
Her being 7 is the last chance. I had several people wanting a pup 2 of them waiting over 2 years.
Does this happen often my breeder said its only happened to him 2x in all the years hes been breeding.

The stud dog owner we use says that numbers of pups get less as the bitch gets older and 7 is quite an age to have a litter.

I'm so sorry she won't be having pups, my girl lost a whole litter at 7 weeks pregnant back in the summer and that was really upsetting!

Just happened to me with my bitch, who had a litter to this young proven stud 15 months ago.

I have had bitches miss on 3 previous occaions, one twice, on her first mating with an older dog who was later found to be firing blanks.  then after two litters she was mated to a maiden dog over severtal days, and missed, both the dog and she went on to have pups with other partners.  Her daughter was tried with a older stud who had recently had a singleton pup by one bitch, and a month after she was mated another bitch had a single pup to him, but she missed, so failing fertility was our conclusion.  Sometimes it is just poor timing or something not going quite to order in that cycle.

We are lucky our bitches are so fertile, as humans cycle every month, but women rarely fall pregnant at their first attempt.

The dog that was used as proven himself on a number of times 1 of them being with Keatah. Another bitch as just had a litter from him 2 weeks ago.
I was on a real downer at the time but Im ok with it now. Im a big believer in everything happens for a reason. Im going to try with my younger dog in her next season.
Sharon thats awfull. I do know worse things can happen. My other dog Sheena had a great pregnency and both pups were born dead.

My bitch missed two seasons in a row to the same dog. They had already produced a litter together (13 pups). The stud dog has sired several big litters since. We came to the conclusion that something must have happened when she had an emergency caesarian - possible scarring? - that was stopping her from conceiving again. I've had her speyed now.
