Hi.......my girl is day 58 today, she hasn't ate a thing all day, although this isn't unusual for her, she has been a very fussy eater all through pregnancy.  Well tonight she has been trying to be sick a few times, because she hasn't ate anything nothing is coming up.

She's not restless, panting or pacing.........do you think this could be the very early start of labour?  She had her last litter on day 60!

Will the pups be ok if they come in the next 24 hours??

Thanks

Don't panic! :D My bitch had puppies on day 57, and all were fine :)

Is she starting to nest? Not all bitches do. My first bitch just sat beside me, then ran to the front door, giving birth mid-run  The puppy bounced into the water bowl ;) It was fine. Mum thought she'd done something wrong and wouldn't go near it until the 2nd and 3rd were born within 5 mins of one another. Oh the joys of breeding ;)

Good luck for the next few days, just keep a close eye on her. AND TRY TO GET SOME SLEEP :D

Oh how funny! :D Another one who assumed her first-born was a poo, and was horrified at having produced it in the house! Mine have been just the same!

No, no nesting, she's actually fast asleep at the moment.  I don't think she will be long about though, she seems to have her waistline back and when she had a wee earlier, there were strings of mucous................she's very relaxed at the moment, which is more than I can say for myself.......lol.

Thanks for replying

My bitch nested for 24 hours although blink and you would miss it, then the 24 hours before birth she slept like a baby !!  The only sign I had that she was very close was when she went out the garden and tried to poo but couldn't came in I checked her and there was a pup half out !

She also didn't eat for 72 hours before birth

All's quiet this morning, bit restless overnight, so I think this may just be the start of a long couple of days....

Sounds as if this is it.  You're now on day 59 so only 4 days early, and as she had them on day 60 last time it sounds spot on.  I often find strings of mucous during the last week as well.  Is she eating today?

Good luck

Morning Sharon,

My first litter was 7 days early, 6 puppies which was quite a few for a westie and all were above the average weight.

None of mine eat very much in the last few days to be honest.

Don't panick

Sharon has puppies, think she ended up with 6 , she will no doubt update when she has a spare min :-) I think everything went ok in the end.
