Hi.
I'm getting a chihuahua in January. I was looking thru your site for training tips and noticed that alot of people are worried about leaving there dogs on their own for just an hour or so.  My partner and i both work but we have children and my mum who watches the kids who are 10 and 12 will watch the pup also but there will be one night a week when no-one willl be in from 7pm till at the latest 2am (same night) when i get home. Is that cruel. I hoped that she would sleep and if i left her lots of toys to play with she would be ok till i got home. Now i'm not so sure

In an ideal world none of us would have to leave our children or our dogs but since its not ideal we have to do our best.I think as long as your mum watches the pup while your at work then the other short periods of time should be ok.
