I would be very grateful for advice for my 4.5 month old male JRT.  He has erections(which all puppies will have!) unfortunately he becomes very distressed and appears in pain as the whole thing pops out all the way to his glands which pop out also, i was wondering if early neutering would help, would having him done so early affect his growth?

Has the vet checked him out? Some puppies have an overly small opening to the sheath (a condition called paraphimosis) which can be treated surgically. Bathing the exposed penis in cool sterile water should reduce it in size enabling the sheath to be returned over it; soap or vaseline may be needed as a lubricant.

Ooh I don't know, but soap sounds as if it may sting as you couldn't rinse it off afterwards!

Soap's an excellent lubricant, and often used on hands when lambing! (And vet recommended for this canine condition!)
