Have any of you got dogs with moles on their bottoms. Oscar has one and I am sure he has always had a little one but I can't help thinking it has got bigger. He was at the vet a couple of weeks ago to have his anal glands expressed and it was only a couple of days later when I started to ask myself questions about it. The vet didn't say anything at the time. He is still young (nearly 2) and it may be age that makes it appear bigger. It's probably half centimetre long but quite narrow - elongated type shape. I have a feeling that I need to take him back again to have a look but I am contemplating waiting until his next injection in a few months time. What do you think?

Hi Scattergood
I would just get the vet to check that it isn't anal furunculosis, my old GSD had a 'lesion' that was an elongated shape.
It does seem to main affect GSD's, what breed is your dog?
K
He's a miniature schnauzer, this thing on this bottom is black and rubbery looking.

Probably isn't AF thank goodness. Keep an eye on it though, see if it weeps or oozes and get straight back to the vet if it does. I spent a number of years peering at my dogs backside!

Thanks I will, I seem to be constantly looking at it. Fortunately, schnauzers have a very visible rear end so it's not difficult to keep a check on it. I am also going to check with his breeder to see if his siblings have anything similar.
Just a thought, my old Lab had something like this turned out to be an anal adenoma. Is your chap nuetered? apparetly very common in older dogs, that are not castrated, so my vet told me.
No he isn't castrated but he is two years old. I have just looked this up and it fits the description. Did your lab have to have any treatment?
Yes he had it removed and was also castrated, as my vet at the time said that they usually grow back if they are not castrated, as they grow because of too much testoserone in the dogs system.
HTH.
