how long before I can mate my bitch again? she had puppies ten months ago, and she is coming into season again, will i be able to register the pups as by the time she has them it will be 12 months since her last pups, is this ok?

I always understood that it is best to wait for 2 or even 3/4 seasons after a litter before considering another litter as it takes alot out of a bitch and she should be allowed time to relax between litters.
hope this helps  :)

Hi Guest, As far as the Kennel Club is concerned a gap of 12 months is allowable. However, there are alot more moral criteria to satisfy than that. How old is the bitch? How many previous litters has she had? What is the rush to have another at this time? What size were her previous litters?

If you were to register on Champdogs, you would be able to respond and discuss, then better advice could be given.

Regards, Dawn R.

I would leave at least one clear season between litters.

I agree with JG, at least 12 months and one season before breeding again
