Just purchaced (deposited ready to pickup on the 3'rd of december (damn she will be HUGE  by then shes allready big for a young pup,) shes a siberian husky X'ed with a Siberian Husky X German shepard, so shes 3/4 Siberian Husky and 1/4 German Shepard.

Shes the one on the left, (ALOT better looking than in the pic, it does her no justice..) I think she has more of a husky face than the others, admittedly not much husky color, but her mask is coming out a grey' white. She has beautiful grey eyes, that just recently changed to grey wether or not they will stay that color is another subject, I hope they do as they make her a real stunner, I was just wondering if anybody has owned a 3/4 sibe 1/4 GS before and what charicteristics to expect, the mother half sibe half gs is a real bute, shes really trusting and gets on well with everyone, everything too, just wondering what one looking as mine does now may look like when its older, and what to expect from this breed, I allready own a purewhite alsatian and have done alot of reading on huskies these past two months, but dont really know what to expect from this cross breed.. anyhelp/info is much appresheated, kind regards

Chips,

Nice forums by the way, (bit out dated, but CGI always has been ;) )

Hi Mr.Chips,

With a mixed breed you never do know which one they will take after - looks do not always follow behaviour.  Anyway, she looks like a lovely puppy.

With big dogs you have to make sure she does not get too huge too quickly.   Slow, steady growth is better for their bones and makes them less likely grow up with genetic problems like bad hips.  She should not be allowed to walk up and down stairs until she is a year old.  And you should keep her exercise to a minimum until she is about that age as well.  And, of course, after she has her puppy shots make sure you socialize her well with other dogs and people.   If you do, she is likely to grow up confident and a good citizen.

I would suggest you get a good book about both breeds and learn as much as you can from them.   I would check the breed club websites (for Husky and GSD) as well, which should have information about known health problems with each breed as well as health checks that should be carried out before breeding.  It is unlikely, however, that the breeder of your puppy carried out health checks before mating.

Enjoy your new puppy.  I am sure she will be a friend for life.

Stacey
