i have a litter due if everything goes well end of december, i have a waiting list and one paticular couple have been on it since they saw my bitch at a show in the summer , they ring me regularly and have travelled 3 hrs to see mum. then want a bitch and if i have any i have decided to endorse there pedigrees so that they wont be bred from until they are 2 , then i will lift it. i have done this because i have seen and heard some terrible stories. anyway this lovely couple are very upset , they say they have a friend who bought a pup ,showed her and she did well but the breeder got snotty over some petty matter and wouldnt lift it. they are worried i would do the same ( i wouldnt) i am almost 100% sure they wouldnt breed from her before 2 and they do want to show, but can i make this couple the exeption to the rule, is there anyway round this, what would you do ?

It all comes down to trust. If they don't trust you to stick to your word (and what is on your written puppy sales contract) then I wouldn't hold out much hope for a happy relationship between you.

Maybe you could reassure them by putting specifically what the requirements are for lifting the endorsement in the contract, for example:-
1. Age of bitch
2. Exact scores/results for what health tests under what schemes
3. Specific placing in what type of show.
That way it is crystal clear what is required and they would have something in writing to take to the KC if you renegued on the agreement (which I'm sure you wouldn't :))
If they were not happy with your requirements you probably don't want to let them have the puppy anyway.

I endorse all of my pups and hopefully any reputable breeder does these days !!  If they've got details in writing that you will lift the endorsement if they do certain things such as health tests then if the agreement wasn't adhered to by either party then at least they would be able to do something about it legally!  (I'm sure that my brains not working properly, does the previous make sense :d)

To my mind, anyone wanting to breed a bitch should make the person who bred the bitch their first "port of call" and that breeder should become the new breeders mentor and advisor. If the puppy owners cant trust the puppies breeder, they should not get a puppy from him/her. (Hope this makes sense, I've had a drink) !!! :D
