Hi
i am off to go and pick up my new puppie, a 6 months old Terrier Cross.
apparently she's not trained, and from going for a walk with her, it does look like she hasn't...
any advice? have had dogs before, but there were always older dogs, already trained.
thank you for your help

Your best bet is to contact your local APDT member - http://www.apdt.co.uk/list_trainers.asp who will be able to advise you on classes, which not only teach YOU how to train your dog, but should provide your dog with positive socialisation experience.
Good luck :)
thank you for the infos. unfortunately the puppie pick-up did not go too well. I took with me another dog, Max. He and Ruby will be spending lots of time together. Unfortunately max (2 yrs old) was not happy with the boisterous Ruby and attacked her once, then snapped when was not left any other options, which usually was to turn away.
I wanted to leave them of the lead running around, expecting a bit of a settling phase, maybe some grouling, but the other owner was not happy to do so.
She simply is a very playful puppie whilst Max just wasn't interested.
Together with Max owner we thought to take them somewhere neutral and leave them to play/get to know each other of the lead. do you think that would work?
I often look after Max (Welsh Collie, slightly submissive..) quite often when his owner is away and would not want to have fights in my kitchen.
I think Ruby is lovely, and she really won me over, so would like to make this work.
Thanks for your help
