Just a quick note for people owning GSP's and similar dogs. I recently lost my wonderful gsp through a stomach torsion, which according to my vet is quite rare, but still a problem for these and similar deep chested dogs. It is something i had  heard of quite by accident, and i obviously took precautions to prevent it(feeding on a heightened level, not exercising directly after feeding etc), but unfortuneately my boy was one of the unlucky few, and a bit far gone for the vets to save him. I only write this because it is not something i personally had generally heard a lot about, and i would hate anyone to have to deal with what i have had to.

Hi guest, I'm so sorry to hear what happened. I too have lost a dog to the same thing. GDV, Bloat or Tortion, call it what you will, is discussed here fairly regularly, as it isn't all that rare I'm sorry to say.

If you'd like to view a few old threads on the subject you could click on Search and put in Gastric Tortion or Bloat, you will get quite alot I would think.
