I'm not a visitor, actually, but I've forgotten my password, so I'm waiting for Admin to rescue me!
We signed up for Broadband, had some difficulty initially but finally got connected - but then couldn't access any web pages either on Broadband or dial-uup. We were told it was a minor problem with the computer, so called in a "Computer Doctor" firm. The chap couldn't fix the fault so he took the computer to his work-shop. They rang and asked what data we wanted backed up. We said our main priority was the photos, plus "my documents". The computer is now back but to our horror the photos have gone. We know we should have backed them up but we didn't....I am devastated as we had some wonderful pictures of our Maggie's puppies when they were newly born - lost for ever...boo hoo hoo...

Sorry to hear this, but I know how you feel,we had a terrific holiday a couple of years ago in Canada, meeting up with my brother and his wife for the first time again in 6years,we took some great never to be gotten again pics.my computer decided to 'die' on me,so my son redid the whole thing including formatting the hard drive,he backed up most of the stuff on cd's,but thought the pics folder on the desktop was only a shortcut,it wasn't, I had put them all onto there whilst I was editing and rearranging them etc.
It's a lesson learnt tho' now I back up all important stuff on disks and pics are also held on a website not just on my computer and disks!
Depending on what the company actually did to your computer it may be possible to recover these pics with a recovery programme though,I believe someone posted a link on here recently to do just that,it is worth a 'search'.

depending on what they did to the pc if they reformatted but left the hard drive alone (ie didnt change it to a different one) it is possible to retrieve information on it. I dont know how to do it. I would ask those who sorted pc if they backed up information you asked them to save on a disc. They should of done this so they could load it back on pc once fixed. If they didnt then i would think its their responsinility to find someone who can retreive the lost photos. It is possible to do hopefully someone knows how.

Hi
Try this website http://www.snapfiles.com/get/zaimagerecovery.html
Someone posted it on here for me when I lost all my pictures on my memory card. I haven't time to look at the moment, but I am pretty sure it recovered from PC's too.
Good Luck, I know how you feel
