Hi Georgina
Congrats on choosing a TT. They are a lovely breed and you will have, hopefully, lots of fun with her/him.
I would suggest you ask the breeder what they have been feeding and follow on from that for a few weeks. They should give you a diet sheet that will tell all what he'she has been reared on. Let him/her settle in for a few weeks before changing to anything else and when you do, do it  gradually adding a bit of the new food to the regular one until you've completely changed over. Don't make my mistake of given other additives when feeding complete kibble, its not needed as I have found out the hard way by one of mines lips swelling up, but thats another thread!! There are some many good complete puppy foods to choose from ie Burns, Nutro, James Wellbeloved, Denes and many more. I would avoid any that have a lot of additives and colouring just to make it look nice. some dogs are intolerant to these after a period of time. You could even give raw meat, bones, chicken wings and raw veg but this must be pulped up in a processeror first as dogs don't digest lumps of raw veg. too well. But they do seem to like to gnaw on raw carrots
Hope this helps.
Where are you getting your puppy from? Just curious as this is my breed
Anne
I've just reread your message and see your actually asking about adult food low in protien and high in oils. Why do you specify these. Is it what the breeder has said they need? You could always feed extra oil in the way of fish in oils. Tuna, sardines etc. Is there a reason for the low protein? I'm curious as to know why? Especially as I'm on a learning curve at the moment with mine:-)

Hi Anne
I also have two Tibetan Terriers.    One eight year old and the other will be two next February.     They are both female and their names are Sophie and Hollie.     How many do you have?  and how old are they?.
I always worry over food (wanting to give them the best).    They used to have James Welbeloved and I thought that I would try Arden Grange, but the owner of my local pet shop said that it is too high in protein
so I now give them Burns.   What do you feed yours?

Hi Jaqueline.
Likewise I have 2 TT's Mum, Tara who is 6 and her thuglet daughter Safi who is 14 months. I have been having probs. with Safi due to a food allergy or intolerence, but I think it seems to be settled down now.
At the moment Safi is on Hill's Natures Best but I don't intend keeping her on this. Its only to keep the vet quiet as he thinks all Hill's is the best thing since sliced bread, but don't most of them;-)
Tara is on Nutro. sometimes lamb or chicken and sometimes the light one as she really doesn't need a lot to eat and soon starts to look a bit portly, but I am lucky with her, she can eat just about anything with no ill effects whatsoever.
Not so Safi. she is very intolerant to quite a few foods, especially James Wellbeloved. we think it may be an intolerance to oats with her.
I am very interested about the low protein and the relevence with TT's. Its something I have not come across before in the breed and people whom I know at shows don't seem to feed especially low protein diets. Is it something your breeders have told you about? I know they don't need a great deal to eat once they are fully grown, as originally they would have thrived on very little in the way of nourishment, and therefore can make a little go a long way!
Just out of interest, are your's related. Did you breed yourself, if not what are your girls breeding. Might I know the breeder/s?
