can any one tell me if vizsla are prone to any illness as i have heard that some dog i know of is still quite a young dogs has problems with walking if this a one off or what all help will be usefull

Vizsla's have a very good BMS for hips, 12 total. With eyes they have just one condition, Glaucoma, which is under investigation.

Vizslas can also suffer from entropian and various skin complains. Ours have suffered allergies in the past(never did find out what they were but it was seasonal), our 6 year old has a few sebasteous cysts and both of them have this weird thing where the hair near their pads does not grow out enough and causes infection. We check their feet all the time now to keep on top of that, I suspect it may be because they are smooth coated, maybe other smooth coated breed owners can help with this??
They can also suffer from epilepsy and megaoesphagus, although any breed can suffer from anything, some are just more prone than others.
Maybe you could get in touch with either of the breed clubs, the Hungarian Vizsla Club ir the Hungarian Vizslas Society, they should be able to tell you more and point you in the direction of someone had lots of experience with the breed, we are relative newcomers and ares till learning ourselves!
