Hi all
A few weeks back there was a couple of postings about rescue dogs from ireland being sent to the south. A few people had heard that these dogs were being sent to the Isle of wight and if so what was or has happened to them.  As I live on the Isle of wight I hadn't heard anything about it. I usually get our local paper and hadn't seen anything, however a couple of nights ago I was trailing through some old copies on the net and found an article, I did say that if I heard anything I would post here, so hope this puts some minds at rest. This was the article.
ISLAND HAVEN FOR IRISH STRAYS

By Lori Little
STRAY dogs with a bleak future are being rescued from pounds in Ireland and given new homes on the IW.

A kennel in Newport, has taken in a handful of the stricken animals, which faced death in Ireland if unclaimed five days after capture.
Kim Jones, who runs the rescue, has linked up with Brenda Stone at Puppy Rescue in Kilkenny and the pair have transported several dogs to the Island, with help from Carol Thorpe and Kathy Humphries, who drives through the night to collect the animals.
Kim said they had helped several dogs which had been living on the streets in Ireland. These dogs are frequently captured by the pound and if they are not claimed quickly, they are destroyed.
Kim has called her new venture Irish Wights and is appealing for Island families to take on a dog.
Most are young, between five months and two years old, and most are a medium to small size.
She said: "I would like to thank Brenda and all her colleagues for saving the dogs from death row at the Irish pounds and Carol and Kathy at this end. These dogs are friendly and loving and need good homes."
Anyone who wishes to adopt a dog can contact Kim on *****.
