GOD im getting use out of this!!! Here we go again, another question. As i have mentioned ( a lot) i have a very sick little puppy. Hes five months old and undergoing a lot of treatment. He is understandably miserable, if we leave him for 2 mins he sits down and stares or sleeps, no amount of playing or treats can take this away as he is also very sore and stiff. Any idea of alternative medicines or illegal supplies of prozac(joke). He is getting all the love and attention a little puppy could handle .........do we need to just give it time????

Prozac has been prescribed for dogs - honestly:)
Be careful that all the love and attention isn't having the reverse of the required effect and is actually rewarding the 'depressed' behaviour and making him behave more 'depressed'.

This is just what I was thinking when I read the post Digger. You can give a puppy so much attention that it makes the leaving all the harder for it. We all have to leave our dogs at sometime even if only to go to the shops so sometimes we have to steel out hearts a little. We are not really being hard, what we are doing is encouraging the puppy to stand on his own four feet a little more so that when we do have to leave him he will be better able to cope.
The leaving him should be done with the minimum of fuss and so too, the return. Treat it as totally unimportant. Later comes the play, not to be linked to either the going or the coming.
Regards, John
