Hi,

I am looking to buy a CKCS puppy, and have found hopefully someone. Would there be a reason as to why the puppies have not yet been parvod? They are 8 weeks old and have not been done and have been told it is something that I as the new owner would do.... is this ok?
This is all very new to me, so any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Also if the Dam has a clear heart would there be a medical certificate for me to view with the owner.

Your breeder should have a heart cert done less than a year ago for both the mother & father(copy for father unless they own bought) they should both have current eye certs as well & both parents sgould be over 2 1/2 years of age when the mating took place. You need to ask the breeder about Syringomyelia in the bloodlines & if they have not heard of it or tell you their dogs have no lines to a carrier or sufferer please do not buy the puppy, I know it is hard to accept but ALL living cavaliers carry at least one line to a carrier or sufferer of SM-that doesn't mean the dog carries the gene foe SM of course

you should have a copy of the certificate if the dam is heart and eye tested .....also the sire !! my cavaliers are health tested and a copy of the certificate is added to the puppy pack ....as for jabs my vet will not do the first jab until the pups are 8 weeks old so if you are planning to pick up your puppy at 8 weeks it probably hasn't been done ..that is for you to discuss with the breeder.......if you are worried you could ask for the puppy to be jabbed and collected at 12 weeks instead........

hey, my puppy didnt have her first jabs until she was 9 weeks old, second at 12 weeks.  Some vets do allow for them to be jabbed at 8 weeks, so if she is going to be older than that when u get her i should imaging the breeder will do it.  However, it is common for the new owner to pay for the injections.  Although ihave heard of some breeders including this in their price to pay for first jab even if its not done b4 u pick her up
