Late last night noticed our 7 month old Lab pup rubbing her muzzle on the floor on closer inspection found her face all swollen she could hardly open her left eye we rung the emergency Vet he said could be an allergy any way the swelling has gone down as he said it would. Her face at the time tooked like an English Pit Bull still dont know what the couse was though?

Sounds very much like something which happened to one of my Labradors some years ago. Again, I took her to my vet and he administered an injection to relieve the swelling. His worry was that the swelling could affect the breeding. He gave me his private phone number to get in touch if things took a turn for the worst. I sat up with her all night just in case. She slept, and snored, ALL NIGHT but by the morning the swelling was gone. I never did find out what it was and it never came back.

As a thought, with the warm weather there are still quite a few wasps around, one was buzzing around my lunch out in the field yesterday!

Oops! Thanks for spotting it Sara. I've had a long hard day and the snoring you can hear this time is possibly me! (Anna is far too ladylike to snore!!! ;) )

Best wishes, John

I remember when my Irish Setter was around 8-9 months old he had some strange facial swelling. His ear leathers were thick and his head looked quite mis-shapen. This was only evident in the mornings, and as the day wore on the swelling would go down, only to have returned by the next morning.

I worked out that it was an allergy to something straight away, but it took a little longer to decide to just what. It turned out that my daughters hamster was to blame. Both dog and hamster slept in the kitchen. When the hamster got relocated to my daughters bedroom, Bailey stopped swelling up.
