Topic Dog Boards / Health / Staff with pulled out toe nail!

Can anyone give advise on what to do with a nail that has been pulled out quite a way and she is constantly licking it.  It is red underneath, but doesn't affect her walking.

You could bath the paw in salt water....but if doesn't improve quickly check with the vet.

Thank you we are doing that at the moment.  Has anyone heard on Nu-stock, I brought this product from America when my Staff had demodetic? mange.
She recovered well using this cream, but it is really for horses!  On the tub it says under horses, that it is good for cuts and grazes, but not under dogs.  So am reluctant in using it around her toe nail. Any advice please

This happened to one of my dogs but she ripped hers out completely.  We took her to the vet for 2 weeks supply of antibiotics, bathed the foot for 5 mins, 4 times a day in tepid pre-boiled water with a teaspoon of epsom salts added and kept it as clean as possible.  Although its difficult try and stop her licking it as this can cause problems.  This worked for us, the claw grew back with no problems.

HTH.
