Hi all, just wondering somthing, can you shed some light on this for me. I know it is sensible to get your dog fully health checked before breeding if the breed has known faults. There is a very succesfull breeder, and she has also produced some champions and does have a good name, but they don't do any health checks on there dogs. They don't hip score or eye screen, when the breed does suffer from both of these. So do you have any suggestions why they don't check. Is it because they are very experianced and think they could spot the problem or could it be another reason? I am just wondering because most of the breeders in this beed do health checks. They also have a fantastic looking stud dog which has not been hip scored but plenty of people are using him, they do insist however that your bitch is fully health checked before breeding. Please could you shed some light as i am really interested.

If I were presented with a "fabulous" stud dog that people are queueing up to use, but which hasn't been hip scored - I personally would think that the owneer/breeder suspects that there IS a problem with the hips - but if he isn't scored, then no-one can say anything........
I wouldn't use him.
