hi, i finally was able to register. i had asked this question as a visitor, but no one replied with the answers I needed. I am trying to find out what the symptoms are of pneumonia in dogs,  and what I should look for as far as treatment if my dog does have it. My dog is an 8month old shepherd mix named Amy. She is still very energetic, appetite only changed minimally, and she has no cough or discharge. She has made a sound like she was retching, however it was after she took a lot of food into her mouth and she had to cough the pieces up and try to eat them slower. (this happened about 4 times total). I am taking her to the vet tomorrow but it's late in the day, after 5pm and I just want to make sure I'm not missing signs that she needs to be treated faster than that. I appreciate any replies. thanks!!

Pneumonia can be a complication of Kennel cough. The classic symtoms are laboured breathing. fever and loss of appetite.

How's your GSD?  Could be a number of things such as mega oesophagus, cricopharyngeal achalasia, all of which affect the throat but I hope that it was nothing serious.  Hope everythings OK?

You can get a retching noise with a torsion (twisted gut) in which case it's a veterinary emergency, and the retching would be pretty constant.
