I am wondering if anyone knows of any agility clubs near Blackpool in Lancashire. I looked on the agility website mentioned on the previous agility question asked on the guest forum (agility net)and it seems the only club within a couple of hours of me (the one with Wyre in its name that practice at a college) now have such a long waiting list they are refusing to take any more names on their waiting list. At the moment my pup (a standard poodle) is still only 15 weeks and i know that he had to be full grown before i start doing any agility with him so i was just wondering if anyone knew of any clubs that would take my name now. What is the best age to start agility? I am doing basic obedience with him, recall, sit, stay, heel, lie down and retreieve is there anything else you can suggest i teach him? He is just so intelligent and seems to want to learn things and enjoys learning that i don't want him to get bored.

Hope that helps.
Good luck :D
You could try posting a message on the agilitynet forum and ask if theres any clubs in your area.
You need to find out as quickly as possible if there are clubs as they've usually got a long waiting list... at present our club has over a years waiting list.
You can teach him basic commands for agility whilst your waiting until he's 12 months. Teach him to go in a left circle and put a command to it (eg left, back). and then teach him to turn in a right circle and put a different command to it (right, or close). This teaches him directions to go when he's working with you. You can also teach him sendaways to get him working ahead in a straight line. Other than this practise waits, get him into toys as it's easier to get them motivated (ive found) if they are into these rather than treats. Can't think of anything else at the moment! Let us know how you get on.
Char
