I have a 2 year old beagle bitch who I always enter in post grad.   She is a very slow maturer and only recently, as she seems to have started maturing has she started becoming reasonably successful in this class.   But, do the rest of you CD'ers enter post grad or go straight to limit.   Is it more the 'done' thing to win out of post grad before moving up?

I skipped Post Grad and went straight into limit, I did this on her breeders advice as I had already qualified for 2005 she said go for a studbook number.  Well her first Limit she gained her studbook number with a RCC, so I am glad I did it.

If you are still trying to qualify then dependent on the class sizes I would say it is easier to do it in PG, but as we are at the end of the season I would qualify her first next year and then move her into Limit.

She qualified in the summer so I suppose we could have put her in limit from then on.  I just assumed that we might upset some people if didn't win our way out of post grad.

I'd say go for it if you think she's ready. I put my girl in limit at Crufts after only a couple of times in PG and I thought she would be the type the judge would like - she won the class and gained her stud book number. :D

I thought that too, but if anyone said anything I just said her breeder told me too and she is well respected in the breed. 

Could you have a word with her breeder Sarah, I must say I felt very nervous about going in with the big boys, but getting her studbook number convinced me I had done the right thing.

It would be great to get her stud book number.   Our breeder's mother is judging at Crufts in 2006 so we couldn't go then anyway, but at least if we got her stud book number she's qualified for life.
