My 12 month Golden Retreiver has a cough.  It seemed to start when he found his bark and has been gradually getting worse. We have had him to the vets and she put him on antibiotics for 10 days but it has made no difference.  Anyway he is going in tomorrow to have swabs taken from his throat. But i was wondering (probably a silly question) if it is possible if he has just got into the habit of coughing.  He never brings anything up or seems in pain.  Can dogs get into habits like that? Appologies if it is a daft question just trying to rule things out really he has already had an operation for HD and I'm really bothered about having him to the vets all the time it has made him scared of getting in the car. 

Any advice would be great :)
