we have a blue 7 month old sbt that is not kc registed i would like to have her speyed but my OH wants her to have pups so we can keep one how can i persuade him it would be better to have her spayed if i cant will she be healthy enough to have pups when she is old enough and how do we go about finding a good none kc registed stud

Unfortantly more unregisterd dogs do not need to be bred, there are more then enough dogs looking for homes in rescue.  You will never know if she is healthy enough because you won't be able to get certain health checks done.  Ask your husband why he thinks breeding is such a good idea?  Does he like the possibility of losing your beloved girl (also blues are hard to get arn't they?) and the expense if something goes wrong.  Only earlier this year, a friend of mine bred a litter, the bitch was healthy, the breeder had bred litters before and knew what she was doing.  Unfortantly on the operating table she lost her bitch, but saved 8 puppies, all that had to be bottle fed and everything for the first few weeks of there lives, do you want the possibility of that?

I have to say you are thinking correctly, get your bitched speyed and stop any chance of losing her.

Hoping I read this thread wrong and that OH isn't thinking of breeding from a 7mth old bitch no matter what colour or breed!

remember if you do breed her that the pups will be worth much less than KC reg, even the blue ones.
have you considered using a kc reg stud instead of a non kc? i know you said your OH wants to but a kc reg dog would be better :-)

Doesn't matter if the stud is KC or not the pups still can't be registered if the mother isn't.  The mother will not have had KC/BVA health checks and if the studs owner is willing to allow the mating I doubt the stud will have either!

Trouble is Isabel in Irish Staff circles that doesn't seem to bother them too much.

thats true lady dazzle and they breed dogs which dont even look like proper staffs they are more like pitbull terriers and have a different head shape alltogether
