With the best will in the world Guest. We cannot put details of litters on the board, it can be construed as advertising and is against the rules. The only way anyone could give you any help is if you left contact details. As the the Golden/Yellow thing, Archer is correct in saying that the colour is Yellow. This was to avoid confusion with the Golden Retriever and was a condition which was made by the KC when Labrador Retrievers were accepted as a breed by the KC in 1902!

John,
please, may I correct your statement "Labrador Retrievers were accepted as a breed by the KC in 1902!" - the recognition by the KC took place in 1903.
The first Labrador Breed Standard was drawn in 1916.

Best wishes from
The North

I'm sorry, you are right! The centenary celebrations only see like two years ago. At my age the years flash past! :)

Hi Guest,

I didn't see anything wrong with the last reply ?

Perhaps if there had been a " :) " it might have seemed more friendly but I genuinely don't think there was anything incorrect in the answer you got & I'm unsure what you expected ?

Obviously you will need to leave contact details if you want more information as it's against the T&C to advertise here and the correct name for what you are looking for is a yellow Labrador.

Hope you'll reconsider and sign up. :)

Hi Guest, please reconsider your decision not to register with Champdogs. You would be 'cutting your nose off to spite your face' as it were.

There is an enormous amount of collective knowledge here on this board, and it is given away quite freely. Of course we don't always get along as we should, but that is human nature, isn't it? If you really feel you cannot join in at the moment, why not lurk for a while just reading, and not writing anything. You'll soon pick up on the members who's advice comes across as valuable, and you will learn so much. You could also make use of the search facility and check out answers given previously to questions you might otherwise have liked to ask.

Please stay around,
Dawn R.

sorry if you found offence with my post...I was only stating facts.I'm sorry you are so sensitive to my comments....If a breeder takes the time and effort to breed a good litter the least they will expect from a possible purchaser is that they know the name of the breed....otherwise they will assume that they know nothing else about the breed either.I own Norwegian elkhounds...calling a yellow lab golden would be similar to calling my breed swedish elkhounds I suppose.
It was not meant in any way nastily however if you do register I would suggest you ry not to take things so personally...this is a great board but it is a public forum and we cannot all agree all of the time....and who would want to!...I would put a 'smilie' here but can't do them!...will learn one day

Just looked at Archers post and can't believe the guest has a problem with it! Some people are SO sensitive these days, you can't say anything without them getting upset over it! Have noticed this a lot lately, on this board and others. Quite often people get upset about something I've written that I think is just plain talking. Do we have to treat people like children? 'There there dear, thats not quite the right name for the breed you're looking for, how about trying this name instead. Or don't if you don't want to, it really doesn't matter, whatever makes you happy.' Too much effort. I blame it on the lack of discipline at school!

Now people are going to get upset at this............!

I couldn't see anything wrong with it either although the written word is often interpreted the wrong way because of the lack of any visual signs such as smiles frowns etc which are noticeable when talking to someone face to face hence the use of "smilies" on most message boards in an attempt to mimic this and give a better "feel"  for how the post should be interpreted. :) <-----   LOL !

I don't think it's down to discipline at school or anything like that just that some people are more sensitive to what they perceive (rightly or wrongly) as a negative response than others and that often what is written doesn't actually portray what you'd really like it to.

Now go and tell me to P!55 0ff and I'll take it to heart the sensitive soul that I am.... NOT !   :) :)

guest im sorry you feel that way, but i totally understand where youre coming from, there are some REALLY RUDE people on here, who see it as their job to be as condescending as possible to newcomers.
If you want advice you would be better to buy a good dog book than ask some of the regulars on here. im convinced they just sit at home all day feeling miserable and ill at ease with the world, and this is their little way of venting their frustration!

archers being doing homework though!!! looking up how to do all the :)  ;)

I do feel that some people have just come onto the board, with the sole intention of sabotaging it!  I notice that quite a lot of the very aggressive posters have been members for less than two or three weeks..... maybe the trolls are trying a takeover in a different way!

This board has always been combative, but in a positive manner - we don't try and soften the information we give - and sometimes we do lose patience, giving the same answers, time after time after time, to people that we suspect are asking the same question, time after time, after time.

Don't forget it's halfterm! ;)
- By michelled [gb] Date 27.10.04 12:01 UTC
do you really think it is the same people then? i dont !!
just common questions asked by very novicey owners?????
maybe in the past they would have looked it up in a book, but now ask on the net ;)
just because, you or whoever has answered that question 100 times before, dosent mean that it isnt a genuine question does it?
i dont mind the debates on here, & think that they get locked abit quick!!!! :)
- By tobermory [gb] Date 27.10.04 12:06 UTC
the only way to find out if it is the same people asking the same questions would be to remove the anonymity of the "guest" section and make it so that if you want to post you have to join.
that would soon discourage anyone not genuine from posting.
however, I think you would still find them same common questions crop up from time to time, and theres nothing wrong with that, if people are given good advice they will come back and learn more, but if they are not treated well, they will just go off and do whatever theyre going to do regardless, or they will seek advice elsewhere.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 27.10.04 12:11 UTC
Fair point. The problem is when some people (not aimed at anyone in particular, by the way) take offence at the genuine advice given because either it's not what they want to hear, or they don't believe in Our Glorious Leader's maxim of "Education, education, education"!
:)
- By michelled [gb] Date 27.10.04 12:27 UTC
hi JG, yes i agree some do,fair enough, but i honestly do think that some replies would get anybodies back up!!! some people ARE idiots ,but no body likes to be treated like one!!! (i say this to myself everytime another idiot customer walks into my shop!!) :)
- By michelled [gb] Date 27.10.04 12:22 UTC
i never asked a question to start with, just joined!
to be honest if i had asked a question & had SOME of the replies ive seen i would not have joined!!! but i didnt so you lot are stuck with me!!!!!

theres loads of things i dont know about, all i really know about,is;obedience comps training, bit of general behaviour, border collies & collie behaviour, & abit about hips/ swimming etc,so hopefully i can offer my opinion on my "specialitys" & pick your brains on the rest!!!!!
but thats what its all about, nobody knows everything!!!
- By archer [gb] Date 27.10.04 14:42 UTC
Lesley mac
are you calling me rude?
I sincerely hope not as my post was not rude ...it was straight forward. I am a straight talking person and if people don't like it tough! I refuse to 'pussy foot' around and speak to people as if they were 2 year olds just incase I upset someone. This is a public board...for ### sake...what do these people do when they go outside their own houses...fall to peices if someone looks at them wrong?
If the poster went to a reputable breeder to aquire her puppy she would get a lot worse than she got on here!...or maybe the breeders shouldn't ask questions and be outright just incase they upset the guest aswell!
