When i bought my dog she was already four months old, The last owner said she had had her vaccinations and i have since asked for proof of this but they say they have lost the paperwork. So my question is would it hurt her to have them done again, and what age do they have a booster done.

Hi

Is there any chance that you could ring their vets as they will have on record whether the vaccinations have been done, boosters are done a year after the initial vaccinations were given. Is there any chance that she hasn't been vaccinated and they are just too embarrassed to say? Sorry if being cynical. :)

yes rhere is a chance that she's not been vaccinated, so i think it should be done again. but will it harm her.

I tried ringing the original owners vet to see if a horse had been vaccinated (they also said they had lost the paperwork) but the vet wouldn't tell me due to client confidentiality. Ask your own vets advice, perhaps he could ring the other vet?

I was reading on a different post about vaccinations as we have a new puppy coming soon, and several people mentioned something called a titre test, which I think checks for antibodies in the dogs blood. I'm no expert, and don't know anything else about this, but it might be worth asking your vet about having this test done. I would imagine that the result would determine whether or not vaccination is necessary. Good luck.
