Can anyone help with waht to get my 5.5 yr old son for Christmas, he is currently into Yu-Gi-Oh in a huge way, unlike most of his friends who are into Power Rangers, Turtles, Spiderman etc, he has no interest in those.
Anyway he is sure to finish the Yu-Gi-Oh phase shortly (probably as soon as I have bought loads of stuff!) and I am trying to predict what he may be into next...............SO, what are all your 5/6/7 yr old boys into at the moment?
(Please)
Hayley

sorry if im being dense but what is Yu-Gi-Oh ? :)

They are like trading cards, they litter the floor, get down the back of the bed, under the settee cusions and generally drive mother's wild - but have great value to small boys.......

To be honest Yu Gi Oh in our house has past it's sell by date..been and gone but if your boy still loves it then there are some new cards about .....mine are wanting the new game boy advance games this year but some games are too old for a 5 year old....if he has a playstation or a ps2 there are some good football games about this year for xmas ....I think mine might get bikes though this year as they like to be out and about ......

I guess my little fella is going to get into those in a big way soon, he still wants to play with bob the builder at the moment, as for whats next who knows yu-gi-oh are still a favourite with my 9 year old and his pals and my 12 year old and his mates still play with them. havent noticed any new trends at the moment

Zack is into mud. I found him in the field last night hugging a 16.2 horse around the leg. Up to his eyeballs in mud, still in his school uniform.
At least mud is cheap!!!!!
Maybe I will believe Charlie when he says he will love Yu-Gi-Oh forever, I just wish more of his mates were into it!
How old is Zack? (Another good name to go on my list!)

Zack is 5. He's not really into toys as such...which makes him a nightmare to buy for because he doesn't play with anything I get him....other than the box it came in of course
On top of Zack's xmas list is....a donkey
He sounds great - I've got two goats on my wanted list (in addition to the lotus that's been on there for years) but I don't think it'll happen. I'd call them Sid & Nancy :-)
Hi, all 3 of my boys (ages 6, 7 and 11) and the friends of the older two are still madly into yugioh. The oldest wants the latest Pokemon games for his gameboy advance, but all the younger two want is yugioh cards and the latest 'duel disks' for yugioh cards (when I asked 'why' they explained all the benefits to me!). I have found that whatever else I buy them, they still go back to those cards! To be honest, although I would love it if they played with their toys more, at least the cards get good use!

Hi,
We have brought playstation 2 to share for 9yr and 7yr old boys,to go with it they have spiderman and Harry potter game and to date his older sister has brought her oldest brother gameboy advance game can't think what it is.
I'm stuck for my 2yr old boy, and my oldest (girl 13) got a Tv,video, dvd comi for her birthday which is also doubling up as xmas present as well.
So all 3 older children have their main pressents sorted, stuck for the 2yr old boy and new babe in Feb so xmas will be fun next year.
Although to be fair apart from their gameboys which relatives brought them ,I have only ever brought the children traditional toys with occasional video.
I've just to buy smaller pressies/stocking fillers and one main pressie 2yr old.
I have written all my xmas cards and brought new xmas tree lights so for once im preety organised but I think itds the nesting instinct I have .I've already cleaned and polished my big traditional Silver Cross pram and the dogs know when that comes out what that means :-D

Hi Lea,
Try the Game in High st Grantham nr WHsmiths they will actually do a deal to mix and match the games to suit the children if you push it.
We brought playstation 2 - 2 games ,2 consoles I think it should be around £129 we paid £153 but we brought extra couple of game as well.
Definately worth going into havving a chat with them ;-)

Hi Tanni,
Your little boy is indeed very lucky :-)
With having the 4 children and one on the way I try to buy the children a main present each and depending on cost may have to double as a birhday pressie as well.
I then try to buy all the children some smaller presents each then little stocking fillers.
Generally the children have more than enough from friends and family also.I suppose my lot have to share alot more and may have wait a wee while longer for some things but I don't think thats a bad thing.
I'll hand it too them they never moan and never seem to be disappointed.
The atmosphere in the house from having a large family is just fantastic and everyone love the huge traditional dinner.
Last year it was an 18lb Turkey Crown ie no wings or legs just white breast meat, with bacon strips and saussge and cheese rolls around it and all the stuffing.
Children never manage the starters which is uually melon balls or Salmon .then of course xmas pudding and brandy sauce or xmas cake or large homemade sherry triffle.
I just love xmas with all the noise, laughter, crackers the jokes all thats needed to with an extra bang this year is for me to have baby early xmas day :-D and i'v booked homebirth :-D oh what fun .
Briony already terribly excited :-D

Will have a look Briony. Am only getting the boys a PS 2 for Xmas. plus a few games with it. But think I will wait for new Ps 2 to come out. So long as guy in game station at spriongfields is right and they will be the same price as now :S
Only buying it as the Ps1 games work on it and their Ps1 is selectivly broken.!!!!

Chaliepud,
Has your little one discovered BIONICLES yet?? They are made by LEGO and there are quite a few to choose from. They also have Bionicles videos (adventures, lots of action and really good animations) My 7 year old is always thrilled with a Bionicle and has quite a collection.
Dinosaurs also seem to be really popular with both sexes in his school, anything to do with them is very exciting apparently :D

Hi,
I'm sure hes abosolutely adorable ,my mum spoils my children too :-D ithink grandparents tend too because with some maybe they don't see the children too often and they like doing it :-)
Briony :-)
Thanks everyone for your thoughts, I'll probably get him an assortment of gifts, he has mentione the Bionicles before, but he isn't really into Lego yet, will definitely get him some more K'Nex as he loves that.
Not sure about a donkey though.........

Bionicles are
nothing like any other Lego toy

I had to be convinced that they were made by Lego :D You do have to put them together but the smaller ones are very simple (even I can do them :D ) and they all come with clear pictures showing how to put them together. If he loves Knex then he'll probably love Bionicles too :D :D
