I have had a dalmatian dog for 2 and a half weeks now, I was told by the kennels he was approx 2 years old.
How do people determine the age of a dog with no history to go on?
He is so much more playful than my other dally who is 18month bitch.
His teeth are in worse condition than hers but she's always had a good diet and plenty of bones etc.

It is virtually impossible to determine a dog's age and at best it will only be a guess. A very experienced person MAY be able to guess within 3 to 4 years but it will only be a guess. As Mandy has said, environment and diet can make a big difference to appearance, even temperament can make a dog appear young or old. My old Lucy, who had the cares of the world on her poor shoulders always looked so much older than Big Bad Bethany who had a couldn't care less attitude and was in fact 3 years her senior!
