dont know about character but the -old tyme bulldogs are bred much higher on the leg, less exagerated in head features ,making for a fitter dog- their words not mine, ive seen pictures in magazines of them

They are the bulldog of bygone days. The dog that was very similiar to the bulldog that was crossed with the mastiff many years ago to produce the bullmastiff of which we have today. They are longer of leg with stamina and drive with a large head and super personality. They are athletic and can run all day. They have the character, loyalty that you associate with the bull breeds but most of all they love to be pampered.

I don't know but one of the people brought their dog to the ringcraft last Monday and she brought a 15 month old, that looked absolutely fantastic!!

He had the biggest of heads (my fist disappeared when I put it next to his head) and fantastic hind and front legs. He moved wonderfully, but I suppose for a bulldog some people would say it was incorrect. I have not seen a bulldog like him in years, everybody at the ringcraft fell for him.
