Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Help!! not very good at maths

I am in the process of switching my 9month old GSD to a raw diet. I have been on a few web sites to try and find out a typical days menu with quantities. She is 31.6 kilo's in weight. All the sites however give complicated maths to work out and I'm not very good. Can anyone help?

I believe its 3% of the dogs adult weight...not sure what the adult weight of an adult GSD should be but if we say 40kg for arguements sake you would multiply 40 x 2.2 to give you the weight in lbs, divide by 100 then multiply by 3 to give the amount required
eg...40kg x 2.2 = 88 lbs
88 divide by 100 = 0.88
0.88 x 3 = 2.64
so the dog would need approx 2 1/2 lbs of meat a day.
hope this helps

My adult female GSD is 38kg. She is a fairly substantial type but is not overweight. I would agree with 2 1/2 lbs a day and adjust it according to her appetite and weight gain (or lack of it.) Some (adult) GSDs do well on one meal a day, others are much better on two. Taking your pup's age and history into consideration I would be tempted to feed her three small meals and try to keep her calm and settled for 1/2 hour before and an hour after.
