Topic Dog Boards / General / What is her problem?

Hi all,

My lab is now 11 months old, had her first season no problems and is booked to be 'done' at end of month.  I bought her a new bed, a lovely soft, washable expensive thing which she seemed to like - however, she has since started sitting in it and whining, sucking the sides and chewing it.  Take it off her and she is fine (I only got it coz it's getting colder at night!)  I just was curoious as to what might be going through her mind, she is a lot more woofy in general but this bizzare behaviour with her bed is very strange - any clues?

When was her season?  It sounds rather like low level phantom pregnancy behaviour to me..........

Phantom pregnancy came to my mind, too. Keep an eye on her over the next few weeks, she may start to produce milk, and become more broody.

Thanks for the replies, I did wonder about a phantom (my lab when I was young had two of them), her season finished 29/30 July and as I said it was all ok till i got the bed!

Will keep an eye on her though and remove the offending bed to another cupboard!

Thanks
Sara

My money would be on a phantom pregnancy then - the timing is right.  Nothing is ever simple is it? :)
