Eb is 6 and a half months old now (GSD) and seems to be suffering from a poorly tummy.  Last week (Monday) we came home to diarrhoea all over her crate (first time she's ever messed in there) so we starved her that evening.  On Tuesday I fed her plain rice with a little charcoal in it (biscuits - always seems to sort our dogs out).  She had a firm poo the next morning before breakfast so I gave her half complete dry / half rice for breakfast again with a little charcoal and she was fine.  On Thursday morning (as she was okay) I fed her normally (dry) and she had the runs again so back to the rice / charcoal.  For the rest of the weekend  I fed her half normal and half rice and she was okay.  Last night she was back on complete dry again and this morning she's got the runs again.

Any ideas - should I get her down the vets?  She is due to be wormed this week and is happy and bright in herself; playing and chewing on bones etc when we let her.

When we had a similar situation the vet told us that we needed to feed a bland diet (rice/fish/chicken-home cooked) for at least seven days before gradually re-introducing the complete feed, as it takes a while for the gut to recover. We also gave protexin for 5 days, available from vet-medic on line.
