although this may sound like a very odd request i am trying to trace the ancestory of my male black lab Duke. What i do know - he was born on the 22 December 1998 in the north yorks area and had at least 1 other male in the litter (Monty) as they were sold togerther, although do not remain so. He has had a succession of homes before arriving with me and has now been settled for 3 years but without information on his lines i feel that i can not provide any preventative care for congenital ailments which may occur. i have been advised that he is drakeshead and/or sandringham lines and that his was the last litter produced by his breeder. I have also been advised that his sale price was 'over' £500 although no guarantee of this has been made. I hope that this information triggers the memory of someone in your forum as i am desperate to know more about my friend and companion,
Yours With Hope

Hi Beccy.
If your Labrador has Drakeshead and Sandringham in him he is obviously from working lines. Born in North Yorkshire it would follow that these two lines could well be in there. John Halstead (Drakeshead) is in Lancashire and I believe most of the Queen's Sandringham puppies were bred by Andrew Meldrum in Scotland. Unfortunately I don't have the KC Breed Record Supplements which your dog's registration would appear in. Because you know the date of birth and the rough area it should be fairly easy to trace. If you ring the KC on 0870 606 6750 and give them that info they should be able to give you a list of possibilities and I can't believe there can be many born on a specific day in a particular place.
Best wishes, John
