Trailhounds are not fox hounds, they are raced after a scent trail. All the ones I have had contact with in Cumbria live in peoples homes or in their grounds in very small numbers. I'm not sure if some are destroyed when their sporting life is over but I certainly know of some that remain in the household after retirement, I suppose some will end up in rescue (as in every breed) but as they are totally different to foxhounds I expect they would rehome resonably well. It would appear that the previous poster mentioned the rescue of trailhounds out of ignorance of the two sports, trailhounding not being under any threat.
