Hi Lindsay.     When I asked for a recipe for Carrot Cake I printed all the replies out and reading through it today I noticed that you asked me to print my recipe up.....did you mean the Date and Walnut cake.     Sorry that I didn't notice at the time....too busy making the Carrot Cake!!!  If you should see this post perhaps you could let me know.

Date & Walnut Cake

8ozs    Dates
l tsp    Bicarb of soda
          half pint of hot water
          pinch of salt

lOozs   S.R.Flour
4 ozs  Butter (or whichever you prefer)
2 ozs  Chopped walnuts
4 ozs  Soft brown sugar
  l       Egg
   
Chop the dates and pour hot water over, add bicarb of soda and salt and leave to cool.
Rub in flour and butter, add chopped walnuts and sugar.
Add all the liquid to the dry mix (including the egg)
Pour mix into 2lb loaf tin.

Cook on reg mark 4 for one and a quarter hours.

I thought that I would make some Yorkshire Puddings today....my husband thought that they were lovely pancakes!!!

Thanks for that, I will make that recipe later on this month (am trying to space out the cakes...!!!)
It sounds lovely and i know will be much nicer than the ones you can buy in the shops which somehow are always disappointing!

ps I love Yorkshire puddings - my oH likes them "stodgy" and so will sometimes open the oven door at the wrong time...:D
