My friend and I share a lovely Tibetan Terrier.  She is eight months old and real delight - she appears self confident and outgoing and addapts to new situations easily.  The reason she is shared is because I go to shows with my Beardies and our TT is being shown by me as well.

The only problem she seems to have is that she pees and poos at in the house at night when she is with my friend even though she has almost constant access to the back garden.  She quite often goes into the garden with her Beardie companion, for a potty break, and then comes in to releive herself in the house.  She is more with my friend than me and  this is becoming a real problem.

I havent had any accidents while the puppy is with me even though I dont seem to be doing things a great deal diffently from my friend.

Any suggestions

Christine

Hi Christine,

Perhaps something has happened to make her associate her toileting differently at you friend's place :-(  It could just be your friend hasn't been as quick off the mark with her as you and has failed to clean the area with a biological solution so not properly gotten rid of earlier smells.

I think I'd advise your friend to go back to basics with her - as if she were a baby puppy again.  Actually always physically accompanying her into the garden (preferably without her other dog), waiting however long it takes for her to "perform" and using an appropriate command word (hurry up, busy, be quick etc) at the crucial moment ;-)  then make a huge fuss of her.

She is probably using her time in the garden with the other dog for games only.

HTH, Regards Teri
