My border collie has terrible dandruff on her back near her tail. On closer inspection her back is covered in borwn scales similar to cradle cap seen in babies. Brushing seems to loosen it, but i was wondering how to get rid of it. Being a short haired dog it is really noticeable.

Hi, I think I'd have her vet checked first to rule out infection, some sort of mite or hair follicle problems?  - can't be too careful :-(

If it proves to be nothing that needs specific vet treatment perhaps you can add something oily to her diet to help her coat and skin or try giving her some (good quality) evening primrose oil tablets.

You could also try somewhere like the www.animal-health.co.uk or www.caninenaturalcures.co.uk for advice on suitable oral and topical preparations.

HTH, :-)  Teri
