Hi

My dog has one at the moment, and he has had a few in the past. I have always taken him to the vet for them. Ive asked my vets if there's anything I can do, i.e using cotton buds and saline, rubbed around the area to prevent a repeat, he said no.

Basically he said there's nothing I can do for him, I would have to take him back to the vet each time he gets one. Im sure there MUST be something I can do for it also. Any suggestions?

Make sure his immunity is good, is it an eye infection or irritation caused by pollen, dust etc?

You can give Euphrasia 6c by mouth and bathe the eyes with Euphrasia tincture, available on line from Ainsworths et al or Colloidal Silver from Hilton Herbs, H & B etc
Saline solution will not prevent infections.

Hi Thome,

Well I took him the vets again today, and this one isnt an infection. Basically he's banged his eye somewhere whilst running, or ina scrum with his friends at the park :)

Got some drops to use for 9 days. As for the other advice, thaks you all, I will look into all that :D

I use colloidal silver, also bathing with Goldenseal a good remedy for eye infections.

We used Aloe Vera diluted when Abby had an eye infection recomended by a vet nurse and have had no problems.
