My Springer is 10 weeks now, and started off really well at 8 weeks when we got her, she would go in the garden when I took her, and only had the odd accident in the house.
Now she will be in the garden (often for 20 minutes while we are out there), and then come in the house and go on the carpet! This morning my husband took her out when she woke up and she did a wee in the garden, then came in and did a poo on the living room carpet! I was out with her earlier, and 2 minutes after we came in I caught her doing a wee.
We say the same thing everytime we go outside with her - "be quick", so we are being constant with that.
Does anybody have any tips on helping us to help her through this?
I don't have any newspaper down in the house, as she had none where she came from, and I don't see the point of training her to paper, then training her outside. She does have a cage, and has never done anything in there.

Do you take a treat out with you, so she is rewarded in the garden, there and then, for what she does?
No, but will do! Makes sense!

Yep :) She's making the connection between the treat and the house, so she thinks she's being rewarded for going in the house, so ofcourse she wants to be in the house ;)

Hi digger im following this advice very carefully! ive an 9 week old basset who is going outside ( because im taking her out very freqently) but seems to have no bladder control whatsoever as sometimes she can wee again in the house 15 20 mins later. Obviously im proaing the outside ones and not the inside ones.Any more tips?

You are right, she has no bladder control...she is too young yet :) Keep taking her outside every 15-25 minutes as well as after food and drink. Praise when she performs (it helps to use a word to help her associate with *going* ..we always say *HURRY UP* ) Praise and treat as soon as she performs outside
If she has any sccidents , clean up with hot water with biological soap powder dissolved in it.Don't make any fuss about it all.
She will pick up the idea soon, but remember, she is only a very young baby still :)

At this age they do need taking out every 20 mins or so, and after eating, after playing and when anything exciting happens (like visitors). As well as cleaning with bio washing powder, you should spray/wipe over with white spirit or white wine vinegar, as this will break down the fatty acids which hold the scent molecules, which in turn attract the dog back to the same spot over and over again.

Just to give you a bit of an update...............
We have had major success with a clicker! I thought it was worth a go, so went off and bought one, and also Karen Pryors book on clicker training. I used it every time she went in the garden (obviously still using it now) and now she will squeak when she wants to go in the garden. We haven't had one accident in the house for 24 hours now!
Huge improvement, she is a bright little one.
Am using the clicker on my 5 year old Lab too, and she is having great fun learning new things.
My next task is to get Holly to sleep past 5am! I don't mind waking up to her then, but I would dearly love to go back to bed for an hour or so but she will have none of it!
