My puppy is nearly 16 weeks old and im having a nightmare feeding him. Ive tried all sorts to no avail. I tried arden grange which he never took to so i then tried arden grange which he just about ate for a while but then refused to eat, i then tried cooking for him myself ie meat, veg, rice etc but was told that that wasnt a good idea at his age as i couldnt add all the vitamins and minerals that he needs to grow properly so i tried james wellbeloved. For the first few days he'd eat most of it if something tasty was mixed with it and it was dampened but now he either picks out as much tasty stuff as he can without eating any biscuit or he just leaves it altogether. Its like hes scared of his bowl! I don't want to keep changing his food as i'm sure he's already picked up on the fact that if he goes off something, it'll get changed. I leave the food down for 15 mins and take away if its not eaten. People say he'll eat it eventually if he's really hungry but the point is he doesn't, plus i'd like meal times to be a pleasure for him, not a chore!

At 16 weeks he will be teething, so it might be hurting him when he tries to chew. Try giving him a small amount, but soften it with warm water first to help him. As you have said, he could have learnt that if he doesn't eat what you put down you will give him something else, so don't leave it down for long. If he walks away then lift it. DON'T give him something else instead of it. Just throw it away (hence small amounts ;) ) and try later.
