I will have to go abroad in May and I am looking for the best kennel I can find, cost no problem. I need a place run by people I can trust who care about dogs passionately. Had bad experiences in distant past and I have no alternative but to look at kennels again. I'm sure they exist, ideally located between Devon and Heathrow but I would consider travelling anywhere in the southern UK for the right place. My dog is a papmered smooth-haired miniture dacshund who loves warmth and has meagre social skills (with strangers) but can become very friendly if patiently handled.
Please help if you know of somewhere special

Is there no one in your area that would be willing to have your little
pooch to stay. Why not see if you could pay a local person.
Who of course loves dogs.

There is a kennels out near Tavistock, Devon which is very good, run by Maureen Woods. I will try to find out the number if you mail me privately at Devonelitelabs@hotmail.com.
She is a registered behaviourist and has a calm and very relaxed atmosphere in her kennels. She spends time with each dog individually and I think she charges according to the dogs personal needs. The only thing I would say is you need to book early as she is very popular.

My mum has got a long haired minuture dacshund and she always goes back to the breeders when she goes away. The only problem is she lives in Prestiegne which is on the Wales Hereford Border which is a bit out of your way!I know when Tango goes she has a lovely time as they are allowed to roam about freely and is treated as one of the family. If you are interested I can get the details and see whether he would look after your dog. The only trouble is it won't be for a couple of weeks as my mum is away on yet another holiday and so I can't speak to her til then.
