Having been dog owners all our lives from St. Bernards to cross boxer/ridgebacks and others in between (rescued and thorough breds).  Last year, after a long battle, we had to say goodbye to our dog, Ruth.  We are now considering obtaining an English Bull Terrier.  Ideally we would have liked to have had two but we sought advice and was told we couldn't have two together from pups, they would have to be introduced with perhaps a two to three year gap.  Therefore, my question is If another dog can be brought up with an English Bull Terrier, what breed would be right for him/her???

So long as your Bullie is well socialised and trained there is no reason why you cant have the choice of any other breed at all. Although you would probably be best to choose one with the same sort of energy levels etc for when out walking
I love Bullys :) I have staffys at present but would love to own one in the future

When I had Beardies one of my dogs best friends was a Bull Terrier They used to have a high old time at shows & the Bullie always showed better after a rough & tumble with his mate. I used to have to ensure it was after my boy had been in the ring as he used to look like he had never seen a brush after playing

I own a Bull Terrier male and a Staffy bitch there is about an 18 month age gap between them and they get on wonderfull, they share bones, food and beds and never fight. I think Bull Terriers today are pretty easy going dogs and it is now becoming rare to find one that is dog aggressive. I think any breed could be a companion to a Bully, but I would advise against a Toy breed because of the obvious consequences if there is a falling out. My advice would be ensure the parents are of stable temprement and ensure the bully is well socialised and you should be fine.
If you have never owned a Bull Terrier before, please be aware they have a very unique character and can be very stubborn and difficult to train (far more than staffies). Most Bull Terriers owners who love the breed see this as a challenge and are quite willing to accept this, but for somebody who has not owned one before this could be frustrating.
