im thinking of breeding my dalmation, what is the best age to do so and after how many breaks/seasons.

also what age of stud dog is the best (about 2 or about 6)

First of all, has she been BAER tested? Secondly, how has she done in the show ring? If you haven't shown her, who has assessed her as being suitable for breeding? Are you a member of any of the breed clubs?

Don't forget that if you have a litter from her (she may not be mated before she is 2 years old, and she may not have a first litter after she is 5) you are responsible for all her pups, for the rest of their lives. If they ever need rehoming, they come back to you. That's if you sell them all in the first place - htere are a lot of breeders churning out pups, so supply exceeds demand - from responsible owners anyway.

Jeangenie you say she may not have a first litter after she is 5, is that, a KC ruling, a good breeders code of ethics or maybe too old to have a litter for the first time at that age ?

It's not a KC ruling, it's just an advisable upper limit for a first litter from the point of view of the bitch's health. Any later than that and there are likely to be more problems.

Is this the puppy you mention on another thread?

I would have thought that from the other threads the main criteria at the moment is getting her on to a healthy diet rather than breeding her. You have only had her for a few days! :(

Are you asking which age for the stud since you have 2 dogs in mind? maybe your own? If so age should not be your primary concern.Health test results and which one compliments her pedigree better should be more important.
At 8 weeks of age you have no idea if she will be suitable to be bred from in the first place.Get her fed properly,raise her,show her and then you MIGHT have a bitch suitable to have puppies from.
