Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / temperature/whelping time?
- By darleneaw [us] Date 01.09.04 16:02 UTC
Hi,

I wanted some opinions on taking temperature to help determine whelping time in cavaliers. I've heard different opinions on temp and this breed. In my other breed I always do it and it's been "fairly" reliable. Last night her temp was 99.9 F. This morning it was 99.2 F.  I am going more on her behavior than the temp. She at this morning and is acting normal. She is 58 days from the first breeding, 56 from second and 54 from the last. Usually this line goes around day 59 or 60. But I have the 3 breedings to look at.
Thank you

dont know much about your breed, but in the book of the bitch it says 101 normal and then temp shud drop down to around 97 or even lower.  hope this helps but all bitches are different i had a bitch that whelped one day late from the first mating and her temp was 97 1/2.  good luck
