We have got a 10 months old dog. Due to a posting overseas it is unfair to take the dog and we would like to put him up for sale. Could you advise me how best to go about as we would like him to have a caring home and he is now at the age where he needs training and the belonging of a master.

The specifics have been removed from the above post (eg. breed and posters email address). There is still a valid question however that needs an answer.
How do you rehome 10 month old dog ?

Have you been back to the breeder to ask for help and advice?
You should never offer a dog for sale to anyone that wants it. Poor lad i was brought up with Boxers they are certainly not just for anyone

I would definately contact the breeder first. They may know of someone who is looking for an older pup. As for selling your dog, you may be able to find a better home for him by turning him in to a rescue society dedicated to your dogs breed. In the end, that is what really matters, isn't it? If you look at your dogs breed on this website, there may be a contact number for your breed club and their rescue secretary.
I do wonder though, where is it that you are being posted? Is it possible that you could, with a bit of effort, arrange to transport your dog with you? If you aren't that commited to keeping him, fair enough. But for the dogs sake, please explore all the different options. :)

Please contact the breeder of the puppy. I as a breeder would be most upset if a puppy I bred was rehomed without reference to myself.
I wouldn't expect to be able to sell an untrained 10 month old though, I would expect that the breeder could find it a good home with someone who is experienced in the breed (perhaps just lost an old one), but would not mind an older dog.

You should get help from the breeder but if not rescue will help but you wont be able to sell him if they do as they usually dont give papers but A good loving home to me is more important than recouping your money. If you want any rescue numbers email me

Why don't you place an ad for him in a good quality paper, but sell him, don't offer him for free as you will get all kinds of wierdos phoning you. Say in the ad that he needs an experienced dog owner as he needs further training, and say you will home check. Then draw up a list of all the people that phone, tell them that you will want to check their homes, then when you have enough people ( at least five ) that you are happy with, invite them up one at a time to see your dog, then if you like them, go and check each home, only offering your dog to one of them if you find one you are really happy with. I would rather do this if it was me, than returning my dog to the breeder and not having any say in the kind of home he will get next. I hope this helps, best of luck.

Hi, Sad to hear that you have to re-home your puppy.Everyone's comments are very advisable. Just out of interest what breed is your puppy?
