is conducting academic research into why some working gundog breeds collapse when exercising/working.

More information and a questionanaire is available in Septembers issue of Sporting Gun. As well an article about his research - prompted by his own English Springer bitch collapsing now and again. No studies, literature, etc are available about this condition so your help is needed.

I intend to bring this to the attention of my 'Keeper Admin. I know one of his Springers collapsed a couple of seasons ago.

Best wishes, John

Thanks Admin, I've taken the liberty of posting the details on a dedicated Springer group I belong to.

My husband had to take a mars bar for one of his working springers as hed often go down during a shoot. - the mars bar got him up and going though,   :)

We always keep a Mars bar in the game bag - if the dogs don't need it, I can tell you someone who does (at the end of the day - although I probably don't need it either!)

Never had a collapse yet, but a friend had a Welsh Springer collapse half way through the had, and a Mars bar revived her.

If Anna knew I had a Mars bar I'd never stop her collapsing! Possibly several times a day! :(
