Since my old girl was spayed recently she seems to have lost the power she had in her rear end. Her movement has changed totally, and whereas before she would not think twice about jumping fences, now she has difficulty with even the most modest fences. Watching her move the problem seems to be in the lower back and hip area. I have also noticed that when playing with my two boys, she will collapse if they jump on or bump her rear end. In every other way she is fine. She was spayed due to pyometra about 2 months ago. Has anyone else had this happen to their bitches after being spayed? Also will it get better as time goes on?
My vet didn't notice anything different, but then as he said he didn't see her for a movement problem before she became ill. He certainly can't find anything wrong.

If you are worried why not go to a chiropractic?

  It is possible that your bitch is still in some pain and does not want to jump. Think women take a full year to get over it, but then we stupidly walk around on our back legs.  Do not think it is right and if she was mine I would be asking for some investigation or a referral.

I had Lou (4 year old Boxer) spayed on Friday 20/8 - and is still weak on her hindquarters especially coming downstairs (although she ig getting slowly better). I dont think it is her hips rather just everthing stretched inside. I cant beleive though how mobile bitches are after they have been spayed compared to a woman having a historectomy. If you think aswell that gravity pushed everything down in the scar/stitches more than in women. I feel very mean for putting her through her soreness allthough I know she will benifit in the end.

In herself she seems as normal, she runs like a thing demented and tries regularly to dig to Austrailia! She doesn't appear to be any pain, and the vet said that she isn't. I was surprised to see her like this since the last bitch I had spayed did not have change to her movement and still carried on jumping around, and was well able to stand up to the boys playing and she was 12 when she had to be spayed. I just wondered if this was normal and if it is likely to improve as much as anything.
I didn't know there were canine chiropractors. Where would one be that is near me? I'll ask the vet if he thinks it will help.
