I have finally had success and found lots of people who will be having papillon puppies and i am now on quite a few of their waiting lists!!! The only problem is, is that in 6 weeks time we will be getting a Wheaten Terrier puppy. Now all of the breeders will be having puppys starting from now till into 2005. The question is is when do i get the puppy, is it better to wait and have he/she when the wheaten puppy is a year old or have them when the wheaten puppy is younger? I would like to show both the puppys if i can get a show quality papillon, we also have a 7 year old wheaten who wont have a problem with the puppys. Please help as i dont know what to do and i need to tell people if i want one of their puppy or not.

thanks, Sarah xxxx

Hmm, its difficult as a lot depends on the puppy. Some puppies are much harder work to train than others. My eldest dog was 18 months when i got a second puppy, and it has been hard. I would  personally say that a year old would be the absolute minimum age of the wheaten puppy before the papillon, 18 to 24 months ideally. But saying that i own a medium and large breed which is slightly slower to mature.

Me personally I would wait till the first puppy is fully house trained, obedience trained and you have a good bonding with the puppy, so about 6 months to a year... Rather then that to have two puppies at once they will be harder to house train, obedience train and they will bond with eachother more so then you. I just find it easier to focus and train one before bringing in another...just my opinion :)

Thank you both for your opinions. They are both the same things i thought i just wanted to ask different people. I have a breeder who has said that she will be having a litter in 6 months and quite a few that are having some next year. So waiting wont be a problem. Thanks for your replys.
